About the blog.

When I realized I could be anything or do anything or have anything and everything I wanted, I didn’t allow the possibilities to overwhelm me.

Instead, I started this blog. A place to show myself, and the rest of the world, that life is what you make it. When your mind asks and your heart allows, you hold the keys to fate.

I am in the sky, dreaming. Come unfold with me.

About the author.

My name is Lucy, short for Lucille.

I was raised in the suburbs of the Pacific Northwest. I moved to Seattle to attend college and have been here ever since, with the exceptions of a few stints abroad, in Europe and South East Asia. I created this blog towards the end of 2008 as a mode for expression, inspiration, therapy, and of course, publication.

I am an artist, a writer, an herbal tea artisan, an entrepreneur, a wife, a mother and a stepmother. I am married to James, father of my children. I am the mother of Giovanna, age 2. I am the stepmother of Emile, age 6.

I love my big, beautiful family, from husband to cousins, and my out-of-this-world-amazing friends with every piece of my being, every cell in my body, every part of my soul. Because of them, I know that love is the source of all energy.

I am a writer of blogs, poems, novels, love letters. I am a traveler and a travel writer, exploring the world near and far to expand my awareness. I am the creator and owner of Herbal Philosophy, healing the masses of fear with the soothing medicinal properties of herbal teas. I am a health nut (is there a better term for this?) and an advocate of organic and natural products.

I believe the purpose of life is to feel joy. I believe we are here to create. I believe in karma and astrology and the sanctity of the Great Mother. I do what I can to save the planet. I strive to live in the moment. I try not to take myself too seriously. I am highly flawed and I am highly spiritual.

I am exactly who I want to be.

Welcome to my corner of the blogosphere.

About the header.

This is a picture of me in February 2009 on a trip to Jamaica with my soon-to-be husband. It was originally featured in my review of the Rockhouse Hotel. The trip was again recalled in a post about heaven.

I was newly in love. With a man and with life. Slowing but surely making my way back to my true self after years of being lost. The sea sparkled like a precious stone. In a giddy moment, I opened my arms to hug the sun, to drink in her rays, posing for this picture snapped by my true love.

For me, this picture shows that life can be whatever you wish it to be, if you allow yourself to believe in the beauty of your dreams.

I just found your site through SITS and am so excited to see another WA girl. I’m originally from the Seattle area as well (Bellevue), but living in Eastern WA right now. We’re moving back over there next month and I can’t wait. I look forward to having a look around you site and I love the name. :)

    Wow…what a lovely blog!
Your message is inspiring and your header is just amazing.

I live by many of the principles that you list above. I try to teach our children to live in each small moments, to see joy and bliss along the road.

    I truly love your voice.

Thank you, Nichole. I appreciate your kind and encouraging words. My husband and I created the header together, after months of having NO header. Your children are lucky to have you as their mother. Thanks for reminding me once again to find joy in the small moments TODAY.

  4. Took me time to read all the comments, but I really enjoyed the article. It was very helpful to me. It’s always nice when you can not only be informed, but also entertained! I’m sure you had good time writing this post.

Hi Lucy, and nice to meet you :)
I wanted to share that I have a very close life philosophy and that is why I will be reading you, and “following you”.

However I must be honest and admit that I’m not very good at “Not taking things personally.”

I started my blog to document my quest for happiness, in particular finding a fulfilling career. Life is too short to not work hard at your passion!

Happy to meet you! I love this: “life is too short to not work hard at your passion.” Well said, my friend. And I will admit that I am also not too skilled at not taking things personally. Easier said than done, but at least we know it’s important.

Thanks, Kate! You’ve provided much-needed encouragement for today. Welcome to my sweet little blog, it’s been created with love :)

Hi Lucille, I followed you back from Twitter. Like you I started a blog in 2008 but did not get serious again until a few months back after having my twin girls late last year. Plus it has been fun joining the SITS girls to getting to know new people. I will be back to follow you. Take care. Lisa

  9. Oh, I love synchronicities.

Like when Twitter brings you a new must-read blog, when you rarely add any new blogs to your Reader.

But some you just can’t pass up.

    Nice to “meet” you, Lucille.

I am so happy to have stumbled upon your blog! It is so inspiring (and I’ve just read a few posts and your “about” page!) :)

I found you through a comment on “Ivy League Insecurities” and clicked because I thought you looked so beautiful and smart in your glasses! (how cheesy, huh?!) But it’s true!

I think I found you/your blog for a reason, so I have added you to my bookmarks. :)
