a vintage wedding, a timeless love
One of my dearest friends got married recently and I had the honor of being a bridesmaid. Her wedding took place on beautiful Orcas Island, perched on a hill overlooking the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound, where the trees reach uninterrupted to the heavens, and the islands are scattered among the deep blue sea like freckles across a sun-kissed nose. The wedding was like stepping into a vintage book of fairy tales, complete with stunning characters, pink feathers and parasols.
My camera only captured a few of the details, and none of the groom or the wedding party in its entirety. But that’s what a professional photographer is for, right? Even so, there was such fine beauty in the little things.
This particular wedding was ripe with truth and love. As the bride and groom spoke their vows, their five month old daughter cooed from the front row, the sun cast all of its rays upon us, the sound sparkled like a flawless diamond, and there was nary a dry eye in the audience.
Every time I see my dear friend and her new husband interact with one another, their faces shine in bliss, their eyes become starry, their words are sweet, their kisses are plentiful. They are neither shy nor frugal with their affection, rather they bask in one another’s presence. Their relationship embodies love in its purest form.
May their lives together be long and happy.
